Suitable for beginners and those looking to strengthen their knowledge, the course explores how to assess jewellery with informed opinions and accurate measurements. These skills are essential in retail, buying, or professional assessment settings.
The full day course is led by Craig O’Donnell, Curator of the Silver Collections and Head Valuer at Birmingham Assay Office. The NAJ’s David Wilkins Award Winner in 2024, and with over 30 years’ experience as a professional valuer, Craig brings expert insight and real world knowledge to every session, sharing his expertise on:

– Assessing mounted diamonds
– Assessing jewellery construction
– Writing accurate jewellery descriptions
– Common jewellery settings and chain types
– Identifying historic hallmarks on jewellery
